MS Gifted Support Pull-Out Program

Perkiomen Valley Middle School Gifted Education is an enrichment pull-out program for students in grades 6-8. During Gifted Education classes each 6-day cycle, students participate in units which enhance and/or extend the regular Middle School Curriculum or provide an opportunity for students to explore a discipline to which they would not normally be exposed in the regular School District Curriculum. Critical Thinking & Creative Problem Solving Skills are emphasized in each unit. Unit topics include skills and content from major disciplines with roots in Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics. With the assistance of the Gifted Education Teacher, students are also encouraged to investigate and further explore areas of interest by developing an optional guided independent study. If your child is passionate about a particular area and would like assistance in developing such an investigation, it is important for you or your child to contact your child's Gifted Education Teacher.

During each school year, your child's Gifted Education Teacher will schedule a GIEP Meeting so you and the team may meet to discuss your child's strengths and weaknesses, interests, activities, and hobbies. During this meeting, a Gifted Individual Educational Plan (GIEP) will be developed and the document will be mailed to you by the District Office. Prior to the meeting, please print, review, and fill-out the GIEP Parent Input Form located in the Class Files on this webpage and bring it with you to your child's GIEP meeting. Parents are contacted by phone or e-mail indicating a list of available GIEP meeting dates and times.

Fall Enrichment Classes at MCCC

The following is a list of classes for the fall at the MontgomeryCountyCommunity College, Continuing Education Department.  In past years, students have found some of these classes to be very enriching.  However, the opportunities below are just for informational purposes only.  Most of them have a fee.  This is not an endorsement by the PerkiomenValleySchool District.  Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.  It would be more beneficial, however, to contact the college directly at 215-641-6397 (Blue Bell) or 610-718-1861 (Pottstown).  You can also find the details about times, dates, locations, and fees at their website, www.mc3.edu.
